Curriculum Vitae


Ivanildo got his first lessons in music from his father, who is a guitar teacher at the Music Academy of Curaçao, Neth. Antilles. He started playing the recorder. Later, at age 9 he began playing the flute, and the violin a year later. His musical education took place at the local Academy of music. He played violin in the national youth orchestra of Curaçao from 1974 till 1980.

He started playing the guitar quite late, only at age 14. Of course he studied with his father, but later on also with the other guitar teachers at the academy.

For a short while he played alto-saxophon in the high school band.


After finishing high school Ivanildo went to Holland to take up a study at the Technical University of Twente in Enschede. His major subject was electronics.

Music appealed more and more to him and so he decided to study the guitar. In 1985 he went to the conservatory of Enschede, where he studied classical guitar with Louis Ignatuis Gall.

He graduated in 1991. Being the best guitar student that graduated in that year he was nominated for the "Tubantia" price.

He participated in master classes with David Russell, Roberto Aussell, John Mills and Wolfgang Lendle.

Concerts in Poland, Curaçao, Venezuela, Holland and Germany followed.


In 1995 Ivanildo moved to Mühldorf (Germany), where he took up a position as guitar teacher at the municipal school of music. He also taught at the music schools of Waldkraiburg, Trostberg and Pfarrkirchen.

At present Ivanildo works as a guitar teacher at the muncipal school of Music of Mühldorf and teaches Guitar and Computer Applications at the "Fachakademie für Sozialpädagogik" in Mühldorf.
